Purpose
The Stars Unseen is a feature length faith-based drama film that is based on a conflict of ideas.
Science can’t “observe” God. But we can observe a universe that yields evidence of one of two things: It’s either God’s handiwork, or it got here by accident, without a creator. Interestingly our culture has painted science as being a conflicting force against God. But what they fail to highlight is science that exists that is so intricate and exact that mathematicians and scientists can’t explain it because it contradicts the very basis of their understanding.
Audiences will love this film because it presents God as the intelligent designer in a soft, inviting way that doesn’t feel forceful or aggressive. The dialogue is written very natural, relatable and original. Quick witted humor Is spaced throughout to contrast with the more intense dramatic aspects.
The message is presented in a way that will cause the audience to consider their own
spirituality. This project will shift perspectives and bring to light the science that reveals the glory of God.
Synopsis
Senior year at university unfolds as Mary Ward settles into her off-campus apartment.
Guided by the lingering pain of her mother's passing, Mary is skeptical of God's existence, but her beliefs are shaken by a comment made by a guest lecturer in her astronomy class.
Faced with a challenging new perspective and feeling her atheistic foundation threatened, Mary launches into an investigation, propelling her on a journey of discovery that will stretch the boundaries of everything she holds true. Supported by her like- minded friend, Jess, Mary delves into her research, but Cam Walker, a new acquaintance, challenges her beliefs with his clever wit and surprising relatability. As Mary engages with Cam more and more, she wrestles with a conflict between her growing admiration for him and her atheistic convictions that contradict his Christianity.
Flashbacks of memories flood Mary as she recalls her childhood with her mother and the faith that once filled their home. However, the sudden and tragic loss of her father thrusts her back into a guarded state and forces her to question everything. Only when Mary finds the bravery to confront her anger does she fully embrace the culmination of evidence before her. What unfolds is the revelation of a loving creator who understands her brokenness, remaining faithful through it all. Guided by a new world-view and a supportive community, Mary embarks on a path unveiling everything God created her to be.
